Great jazz for any occasion - Simply the best jazz of the modern era
Styles Offered include:-
- Kind of Blue – classic jazz standards, including vocals – from a duo through to a quintet – operates in Wales, the West and the Midlands. Also operates in Italy.
- Blue Note and Beyond – cutting edge contemporary jazz including originals – usually a quartet
- Quantum Leap Jazz Fusion, Blues, Latin, Funk, Rock 7 piece including a
singer. Very groovy
- Round the Horn (led by Roy Davies) – Old favourites you know and love, beautiful tunes – a quintet with trumpet, sax, vocals and guitar.
- Also can offer Big Band, Maynard Ferguson or Glen Miller style – typically 20-piece. (led by Roddy Lewis).
- Saxophone tuition and jazz coaching – Atlantic College and Cardiff University Lifelong Learning – also Milan, Italy
Jazz Experiences since 2000
- Jazz festivals, jazz clubs, weddings and corporate functions, village and community events, mostly in South Wales with support from the Arts Council of Wales, but also in the Midlands and South West.
- Welsh Millenium Centre, Café Jazz, Riverbank Hotel,The Norwegian Church Arts Centre, the Gate Arts Centre in Cardiff, Torfaen Jazz Society, Swansea Jazzland, Brecon Jazz Festival, St Donat’s Arts centre, Ye Olde Farm House Bath, the Trumpet Bilston, the White Swan Stratford-upon-Avon, Strathallan Thistle, Fiddle and Bone and Bonedangles Birmingham and many others.
- Bryngarw Jazz in the Park and Grand Hotel Porthcawl
- Performed with international star guests, such as US Frank Griffith and Phil de Greg, Spanish pianist Iñaki Sandoval and Italian Davide Logiri.
- Many gigs at the Norwegian Church Arts Centre in Cardiff with stars such as Art Themen, Steve Waterman, Mark Nightingale, Jim Mullen, Chris Biscoe, Guy Barker, Martin Shaw, Keith Tippett, Damon Brown and Alan Barnes.
- Played at Brecon Jazz Festival with Art Themen and Damon Brown as guests. Also at Brecon with Liquid Latin.
- Has organised buskers for Cowbridge festivals 2004 and 2005.
- Played with most of the personalities of South Wales jazz, including Julian Martin, Richard Roberts and Jim Barber, Paula Gardiner, Jon Goode and Donny-Joe Sweeney, Chris and Mark O’Connor, Paul Jones, Gethin Liddington, Dick Hamer, Roddy Lewis,
- Played with many of the personalities of South West jazz, including John Paul Gard, Joe Murphy, Robert Brian, Andy Hague and Martin Young.
- Played with some of the top Midlands players, including Keith Bill, Tom Hill, Neil Bullock, Delroy Brown, Erica Lyons and Roger Inniss.
- Two successful tours of Northern Italy in 2004 and 2005 playing in many different venues with pianist Davide Logiri, bassist Gianluca Alberti and drummers Alessio Pacifico and Luigi Gungui. Venues include Zythum, Rosa Antico, Noreste Café, Osteria de Jazz, Joe Peñas and Hotel Grand Doria in Milano, Klejnot in Crema and Far Out Festival in Bellagio, Lake Como.
Prior to 2000, Andrew combined jazz with a business career that took him all over the world, with playing experiences particularly at :-
